Operation Christmas Child

November 13th, 2009

On November 13th, local co-ordinator Norah Collins came to collect the Christmas shoe boxes that the pupils of Oola N.S. have being busy assembling over the past few weeks. We collected 70 boxes in all this year. These are destined for Burundi in Central Africa.

Burundi

Burundi is a small land-locked, equatorial country in Central Africa, with a coastline on Lake Tanganyika. It has been ruled by Germany and Belgium, before becoming an independent kingdom in 1962.

It has suffered in recent years from tribal warfare, also affecting Rwanda and other surrounding countries, between Hutu and Tutsi peoples, and now relies largely on subsistence farming.
