Treat Day on this Friday, January 27th (last Friday in the month). Two treats can be included in the lunch box.
Swimming; Swimming lessons for second to sixth class will begin on Tuesday, January 31st and will run until March 13th. Transport and pool costs have remained the same so there will be no increase in the swimming contribution, 1 pupil €35 - 2 pupils (same family) €50 If this could be paid before January 31st it would greatly help. Please supply togs, towel and a bag for clothing. Goggles and swim socks are optional. A good breakfast on Tuesdays and a substantial lunch might help quell hungry appetites when pupils return at 12 o'clock.
Reading Buddies; Our Reading Buddies Scheme will commence next Monday, Jnauary 30th. This is where an older child (5th / 6th) is paired with a younger pupil (1st / 2nd). They read together for ten minutes each day over an eight week period.
RTE Concert Orchestra; Pupils from 1st to 6th visited University of Limerick Concert Hall on Friday, January 20th for a performance by the RTE Concert Orchestra in the Music in the Classroom series. It was a most enjoyable performance. Our Green Schools Committee have organised an art competition on the theme of travel. Entries must be in by Friday, February 3rd. A presentation was made to Dermot O'Gorman who served as Treasurer to the Board of Management for the last 19 years.For more see "School News" section or click here. Sincere thanks to the Parents Council for organising refreshments etc. for the presentation. Thanks also for organising a visit from Santa on the day of the holidays. Each pupil received a selection box. Santa visited again and left a present for each class on return to school.
Our Christmas Concert was a huge success. Concert entry fee and raffle netted €1664 which has gone to Parents Council Funds. For photos see "School News" section or click here.

School Leagues- Matches have recently got underway with the girls first football match against Castleconnell on Wednesday September 28th. The girls had a good victory.They played Murroe in Oola on Wednesday, October 12th and were again victorious. The East Limerick Schools Finals took place in Ballybricken GAA Grounds on Wednesday, October 26th.Both teams were victorious. The boys beat Caherelly and the girls beat Killinure. Well done to all.
We ask your cooperation in trying to implement our Healthy Eating Policy. Flavoured biscuits, chocolate coated bars or fizzy drinks are not part of the school diet. The majority of pupils bring a roll, sandwich, scone, fruit, fruit etc and water, milk or juices for a drink. This years school closures 2011 / 2012 are available to print in our Downloads section or by clicking here. The €2 weekly collection by the Parents Council began on September 12th. €2 per family to be given to class teacher each Monday. School gate is open by 9.05am each school morning. Pupils are not supervised before this time. Parents are asked to exercise caution when dropping off and collecting children.
